The Little Sunbeams Playgroup is a program that is being run by Safe Futures Foundation, EACH and Uniting Wesley. The EACH Workers are specialists who work in the areas of speech pathology, occupational therapy and psychology. The program is designed to support women and children who have children between the ages of 12 months-5 years old, and who have experienced trauma associated with homelessness and family violence.
The aim of the Playgroup is for families to have fun and spend special time together. The Playgroup has an informal structure and consists of singing songs, reciting rhymes, listening to a story and a simple craft activity. Songs, rhymes and stories are very important to support children's language, speech and literacy/numeracy development. Songs and rhymes can also be a useful tool for supporting families during everyday life. They support interaction between parent and child, can comfort children when distressed and can help decrease stress for children and parents in challenging situations.
Little Sunbeams Program runs at Safe Futures Foundation- Croydon every Wednesday (from Wednesday 7th February 2018) The Playgroup runs between 10:00am-11:30am. An Individual Support Session is available between 11:30am-12:30pm on the same day as the Playgroup. Please book a week in advance for an appointment. Morning tea is provided during the Playgroup.
